HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT PERMANENT MAKEUP FOR YOUR PORTRAIT?
Most if not all my portrait clients (Some Headshot clients too) in Cleveland have there makeup down by a MUA (Make Up Artist), but I recently had a client who had some permanent make up done. She says she loves it and it saves time getting ready. We still had a make up artist come in, for foundation, hair etc.. So I asked my friend Alla at Allegria Studios (https://allegriastudios.com/) for her thoughts on permanent make up vs microblading for eyebrows. So here is her thoughts.
Permanent Make vs. Microblading for Headshot or Portrait Session
“When everyone thinks microblading is a panacea for creating perfect eyebrows, we actually took a swim against the current... We have developed our own technique for creating outstanding results for cosmetic tattoos, that looks natural and what is most important, creates no skin trauma!
You have to realize that microblading is done with a set of needles that resemble a scalpel. Needles are not invented for cutting, and as a result, in many cases the work ends up too traumatic and causes scars, unfortunate results, etc.
We use tattoo machines for our work, but what makes it very different is the depth of our work, the technique itself, and of course the pigments used. We work about a 1 mm into the skin, creating pixelated natural looks. Easy healing, painless process, and marvelous results, that is what our customers love about our work!”
Before and After
1. What is permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup is a cosmetic procedure where small stitches are placed inside the skin to create permanent eyeliner, eyebrows, lips, etc. There are many different types of permanent makeup procedures depending on what type of look you want.
2. How does permanent makeup work?
The first step is to apply a topical numbing agent to the area being treated. Then a fine needle is inserted into the skin while using tweezers to pull pigment out of a tiny vial. Once the desired color is obtained, the needle is removed and some filler material is injected under the skin. Finally, a protective layer of skin is stitched together.
3. Why do people get permanent make-up done?
People who have had their natural beauty altered may feel insecure about how they appear to others. Many women choose to alter their appearance after having children so they don't look older than they really are. Others simply want to change their looks due to dissatisfaction with their current appearance.
4. Are there any risks involved with permanent makeup?
While permanent makeup is generally considered safe, there are always potential complications. If the numbing agent isn't applied properly, it could cause discomfort or even infection. Injection of the fillers can irritate the surrounding skin. And if the area heals improperly, scarring can occur.
5. Is permanent makeup painful?
It's not uncommon for temporary tattooing to hurt. However, permanent makeup causes less pain since it involves small needles rather than sharp objects. You might still experience some swelling and bruising though.
6. Can I wear makeup over my tattoos?
Yes! Even if you're wearing a full face of makeup, you should never cover your permanent makeup. Your tattoo artist will tell you exactly how much ink to use to match your skin tone. Overdoing it can lead to fading or discoloration.
7. Will my tattoos fade over time?
No. Tattoos are designed to last forever. But if you've been getting them professionally done, then they'll probably stay just as vibrant as the day you got them.
